Australitalia
“Australitalia” is a project around Italian migrants from the 1950s/1960s;
a series of portraits taken either at their home or at some historical Italian landmarks in Melbourne
like, for instance, "Brunetti", "Campari House", "Grossi Florentino", "Marios Cafe", "Il Solito Posto", "Ti Amo", "Il Cantuccio",
and many others.
At the end of the session, they show me things that were brought here from Italy: more than just mere objects,
they’re memories - traces of a previous life, old prints, a passport, a letter from family, a shell, a mouth harp (“scacciapensieri”)...
It's all about people and places that shouldn't be forgotten and an Italian heritage that shaped this Country in the
past few decades.
